Slippery Slope for Women’s World Cup While we were all busy stuffing our faces with Thanksgiving dinner, Ski Country had seven resorts open over the holiday weekend; Telluride, Crested Butte, Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort, Snowmass, Steamboat, Monarch and Aspen. Aspen pulled a double whammy with opening day and hosting the 16th Women’s World Cup Winternational.
Ski it Forward

Ski it Forward With the constant talk about the economy these days, it can be hard to remember to appreciate all that we have. It’s Thanksgiving weekend and here in Colorado, by the end of the holiday, Ski Country will have 14 resorts open for the season – there’s 14 causes for optimism and appreciation right there.
In the spirit of giving thanks, we asked the CSCUSA staff and member resorts what they are most thankful for this holiday weekend. ‘Course we’re all thankful for snow and powder days, that goes with out saying, but we found that it’s the little things, the dedication of guests and sport introductions that really stick with us.

GIVE SNODGRASS A LIFT On Friday November 20 at 11:45am, a protest will happen outside the Forest Service Rocky Mountain Regional Office in Golden. Invited to join the protest are Crested Butte community members, Gunnison and surrounding area community members, ski industry associates, all skiers, all snowboarders, all outdoor enthusiasts, anyone who has ever reaped the benefits of recreation on US Forest Service public land, all those who believe in due process, fairness and democracy.
Assuming the opportunity to voice an opinion is not taken away, like the opportunity for due process was for Snodgrass, the protest, lead by Mt. Crested Butte Mayor William Buck, will offer an outlet for communicating public opinion on the Forest Service’s recent decision regarding development of lift service skiing on Snodgrass.

Beware the Warren Effect. I have a hunch I’m not the only person in the world who after they saw the movie Rocky was so pumped that she attempted to jog home from the movie theater. In fact I know I’m not the only one because my friend Amy was with me and I think it was her mom we called to come get us. Some movies just have that effect.
Warren Miller’s Dynasty is touring through Colorado right now. I’d been hearing the industry buzz about it for months, I’d seen the trailer online, and Ski Country even helped with some of the logistics for the film crew.
