Sunlight Shines On
I visited Sunlight this weekend and here is what I concluded. While Sunlight might be small, especially compared to its neighbors down valley, it skis big. The peak is 9,895 feet and it has more than two thousand vertical.

Four Resorts, Three Days, Two Kids, One Good Time
The Aspen/Snowmass family of resorts includes Aspen, Snowmass, Buttermilk and Highlands. On the first day we skied at Buttermilk with the kids. The locals say that Buttermilk is the learning mountain, but I don’t recall ever being in a school this fun or beautiful.

The town of Aspen has a couple of things working against it: exorbitant prices and a reputation for misbehaving celebrities such as Charlie Sheen and those on VH1’s controversial Secrets of Aspen. Fortunately, it has even more going for it.

My family visited Snowmass for the first time last weekend. I was eager to try the largest of Aspen Ski Company’s highly acclaimed four resorts but I was also worried I wouldn’t fit in. I don’t own fur and my nails haven’t seen a manicure since those fake nails I wore to my high school graduation. Turns out, it didn’t matter. I was, after all, at a world-class ski resort. I just wore gloves the entire time.

Even though it’s still a few weeks away, spring is in the air this weekend in Ski Country. It’s always funny to me to see what crazy events happen at resorts when the days get longer and the snow gets softer. If pond skimming was an Olympic sport I think Coloradans would rule the podium.

The events listed below are just a sampling of what the resorts’ calendars have on the agenda for spring. If you head up just be sure to bring sun screen, a bathing suit and a pig costume.
