Brewski at the Expo

This year’s Colorado Ski and Snowboard Expo will not only have skis and snowboards, but in true Colorado fashion, there will be beer. And not just beer, but beer tasting, savoring, and sampling.
This year’s Expo will bring together two of Colorado’s favorite passions, skiing and beer. Folks who ski in Colorado are passionate about powder. And nothing goes better with a day of powder skiing than beer. As luck would have it, Colorado is home to more than 22 ski areas and, home to more micro brews than any other state.

Living up to long term predictions for a La Nina weather pattern in Colorado this winter, Colorado Ski Country USA resorts across the state were greeted with fresh snowfall this morning. The deep snow adds to the excitement that Colorado’s ski season is already underway with resorts open for both full season and weekend operations.

Sen. Udall Shows the Love to Ski Areas

In spite of today’s party line, posturing political climate, we thought that the recent grit and determination shown by Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colorado) on pushing through his Ski Area Recreation Opportunity Enhancement Act of 2011 deserved a shout out of appreciation.

Opening Day at Wolf Creek 2011

When my alarm went off at 5:15 today I questioned whether it was worth it. Just under four hours later I found my answer: yes, it was. Today Sven Brunso and I made the trek to Wolf Creek Ski Area for opening day – with October 8th setting the new record as the earliest opening ever. Wolfie was 100% open with natural snow before most resorts have even fired up their snowmaking.
