January 17, 2012 – An impressive snow storm moved into Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) Monday leaving double digit snow totals at many resorts. The Central and Southwest mountains witnessed the bulk of the storm with Silverton Mountain as the major benefactor reaping 19 inches, and Wolf Creek 18 inches, both in a 48 hour period.

Copper goes beyond expectations

by Jennifer on Jan.17, 2012, under General

Living up to expectations is hard. Going beyond expectations is rare, unless you’re at Copper Mountain. On a recent visit to Copper, it was clear they have the customer in mind.

Copper’s ski school is located in a building appropriately called Union Creek School House. I’ve visited a lot of resort ski schools, and Copper is definitely doing things right.

by Guest on Jan.16, 2012, under General

Snowmass, January 8, 2012

Sometimes, the timing just works out. After sixteen (that’s 16!) days with no snow and a relentlessly blue sky, the snow came on a weekend. We’d been watching the weather reports all week and the forecast had been steady: snow on Saturday. When we went to bed on Friday, the sky was clear. It wasn’t Saturday yet.

On Saturday, it snowed. Perfect timing. (continue reading…)

Joe Powder

by Joe Powder on Jan.15, 2012, under General

I’m Joe, Joe Powder. Perhaps you’ve seen me on the slopes. I only ride in Colorado, where we have the most amazing snow, tons of resorts, easy does it access and guest service that blows your mind.

I ride a lot. I try to make it to every member resort during the season. I ride the big resorts, I ride the Gems, I ride in the Southwest and I always après.

I mostly snowboard. I’m left handed, Notice I have perfect teeth, I brush and floss them after every meal. I don’t ever shave. I prefer sunglasses to goggles. I’m more polite than I look. Someday I’ll show you the flames on the bottom of my board.

Keep up with my resort visits here, unless you have something better to do on the internet like look at cat videos.

Good chat. See you on the slopes –

Safety can be sexy.

Well maybe not sexy…but it can be fun. Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) and its 22 member resorts, in conjunction with the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), have teamed up to promote National Safety Awareness Week, which begins tomorrow, January 14, and runs through January 21.

CSCUSA member resorts across the state will host events, clinics and other activities designed to educate and remind skiers and riders of the importance of slope safety. These programs, promotions and prizes motivate safe skiing and riding behavior, and highlight the Skier Responsibility Code and various resort safety measures. (continue reading…)
