There’s plenty new at Copper this summer season, including the new Alpine Rush Zip Line, Woodward Digital Media & Freeride Mountain Bike Camps, as well as exciting additions to the resort’s summer event lineup.
Get ready to scream on Copper’s newest attraction, the Alpine Rush zip line. Anticipated to start flying on Opening Day, June 15, the new Alpine Rush zip line features a unique dueling-design which allows two riders to fly side-by-side as they soar over Copper’s West Lake. The ride travels 300’ across the lake, reaches a height of 30’, and is open to anyone whose weight is between 50 and 250 lbs, regardless of age. The new zip line is the perfect addition to Copper’s countless family-friendly activities which also include a climbing wall, bumper boats, paddle boats, go kart track, quad power jump and diggler rentals. Alpine Rush will be the only zip line operating in Summit County (Alpine Rush zip line’s opening date is subject to change.)
Beginning in late June, Woodward introduces an all-new Freeride Mountain Bike Camp where campers will ride Copper Mountain’s lift-accessed terrain and some amazing public bike parks, including the nearby Frisco Bike Park. Developed and coached by freeride mountain bike pro Sasha Yakovleff, the camp will focus on downhill, dirt jump, and all aspects of freeriding through a series of safe and fun progression. Another innovative Woodward offering for the summer camp season: a Digital Media Camp focused solely on video production. This week long program gives campers the opportunity to build film making skills and knowledge. Instructors will teach skills in composition, exposure, focusing, lighting and video editing. For editing, campers will be assigned to an iMAC computer to learn the details of Final Cut Pro HD studio editing software. While at Woodward, all campers will also be able to experience many additional activities including trampolines, tie-dye, go karts, create-a-skate, music and more. Campers will live and eat at Copper’s EDGE building, which is located right down the road from the Barn. Visit WoodwardatCopper.com for more info. Click here to view photos of the new facility.
Finally, the new Wanderlust Yoga Festival is a welcomed addition to Copper’s summer event lineup, and the unique gathering anticipates more than 2,000 in attendance. Wanderlust is a one-of-a-kind festival bringing together the world’s leading yoga teachers, top musical acts and DJs, renowned speakers, prestigious chefs and winemakers, and much, much more — all in a setting of breathtaking natural beauty. This is fun in the sun and dancing under the stars, and hiking on peaceful trails and getting your downward dog on at the top of the mountain. From July 5 – 8, Wanderlust gathers renowned yoga instructors like Seane Corn and Shiva Rea with entertainers and speakers, including Ziggy Marly and Aaron Ralston [after whom the movie 127 Hours is based], for an all-out ecstatic celebration.
