October 29, 2012— Cold temperatures and a burst of winter weather over the weekend allowed Eldora Mountain Resort to begin snowmaking operations for the season. The video linked below offers a look inside Eldora’s snow-making operations and the 100 new low-energy HKD® snow guns recently added to Eldora’s fleet. “These new guns will significantly reduce our energy usage for snowmaking,” said Eldora Spokesman Rob Linde, “and provide a great snow surface for Eldora skiers and riders in the early season.”

Wouldn’t you know it? With ski season already open in Colorado, skiers and snowboarders can once again benefit from saving on winter ski deals by purchasing a Colorado Gems Card for $10 at any of the Credit Union of Colorado’s 15 statewide locations. The cards are issued by Colorado Ski Country USA, and provide a variety of discounts – including new, time-sensitive Flash Deals – at eight of Colorado’s ski areas. Two of these eight are open to the public already, and skiers and riders were happy to see four and five fresh inches this morning at Arapahoe Basin and Loveland, respectively.
At least half a dozen snowstorms and two or more Colorado ski resorts are expected to be open by the time the 21st annual Colorado Ski and Snowboard Expo opens for business on Nov. 2-4, 2012 in downtown Denver at the Colorado Convention Center in Hall F.
With a simple click and a scroll, snow lovers across the nation can win big with prizes from Spyder, The North Face, Never Summer, Head, and Burton. Most importantly, this easy entry could also land you a Winter Park Resort Season Pass – for life, for free.
