Colorado Ski Country Thanksgiving Message
by Colorado Snow Sensei on Nov.22, 2012, under General
It’s Thanksgiving morning, and we thought this would be a good time to have a one-on-one with you, our reader. We, the staff of Colorado Ski Country USA, want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. The Turkey Day Holiday Weekend at Colorado Ski Country is a special time of year for us, just as it is for you.
And since it’s a time to reflect on what we’re all thankful for, we thought we’d take a moment and write an open letter to our fellow ski and ride enthusiasts, our readers of the Club Colorado Blog, those who interact with our Facebook page, Twitter feed, Pinterest, and Tumblr and Flickr accounts. You’re the ones who we see every weekend out on the slopes – shredding pow-pow, hitting the back bowls, meandering down bunny hills. You not only have a shared appreciation for our sport, but a fervent passion for what we all collectively do.

by Colorado Snow Sensei on Nov.21, 2012, under General
With 8 trails, 5 snowmaidens, 3 Hula Hoopers, 2 Polar Bears, 1 Ullr and lots of fun, Opening Day kicked off this morning for Crested Butte Mountain Resort. To bless the area with plentiful snow this year, the team planned a day around Ullr; the Norse God, known for his skiing and skilled hunting abilities. The resort offered free skiing for all to continue a local tradition and celebrate the upcoming winter season. With eight trails, four lifts, 59 acres and an 18 inch base, Crested Butte Mountain Resort is officially open for skiing.

Donation Day At Telluride (10:38 a.m.)
by Colorado Snow Sensei on Nov.21, 2012, under General
Telluride’s Opening Day might be tomorrow, but the resort is turning lifts today as part of its Thanksgiving tradition to give back to the community. The pre-Opening Day fun allows guests to ski early, and all proceeds benefit the Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club’s financial aid assistance program. This program is designed for local children from the school district who need help to participate in skiing and snowboarding. Here’s a first look at the resort’s lifts, courtesy of Telluride Tom. Those beaming faces say it all.

by Colorado Snow Sensei on Nov.17, 2012, under General
This week Aspen/Snowmass made American business history by being the first company in the U.S. to partner with a mine to create clean energy. This groundbreaking project at the Elk Creek Mine in Somerset, Colo. generates three-megawatts of power annually – which is the same amount of energy that Aspen Skiing Company uses in a year.
