Durango Mountain Resort enjoyed snow on its peaks this week, yet will be in full summer mode once the resort opens for summer operations on June 1. Check out the pictures below from this week.
Aspen Skiing Company has announced that with the start of summer operations, the top of Aspen Mountain will be open for skiing and riding on Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-27. Heavy spring snowfall has left the top of the mountain covered in snow as the traditional summer operating season begins. With a base depth of 33 inches up top, the mountain will open with 16 runs and nearly 90 acres of mostly intermediate terrain, served by the Ajax Express chairlift.
Aspen/Snowmass has announced special deals and promotions for the 2013-2014 ski/snowboard season, with savings from opening day in November through closing day in April. New this season, Aspen/Snowmass will offer families the Perfect Holiday, as kids ski free with the purchase of an adult lift ticket over the peak holiday season.
Elsa Bailey made it up to Arapahoe Basin for her 101st birthday party on Saturday. She skied down Pika Place, possibly setting a world record for the oldest woman to strap on skis and descend downhill. Her ski pals from Colorado Springs, the VIBES crew, and her friends and family came in from all over the country to help her celebrate.
The spring ski and ride season has been incredible recently at the ‘Basin, and today was no exception. The snow report you saw this morning was accurate – 12” of fresh snow blanketed Arapahoe Basin Ski Area today, just in time for another weekend of live music, amazing food and – of course – the best skiing still available in the state.
