Loveland Ski Area opened earlier today for the 2013-2014 season, and the conditions are some of the best we’ve seen this early in the season. Their snowmaking crew is working hard to open up more terrain for the weekend, so go take some turns!
Hello! I’m Juliana Broste, aka “Traveling Jules,” Colorado Ski Country’s new Mountain Correspondent. With great honor, we kicked off the 2013-2013 ski season with a bang at A-Basin on Sunday, October 13, 2013. A-Basin is proud to be the first ski resort open–not just in Colorado–but in the whole country! Dedicated skiers and riders came out to celebrate opening day with an impressive lift line queue building up before sunrise! Enthusiasts loaded Black Mountain Express to mid-mountain and made turns down High Noon, with an adventurous crowd peeling off into High Divide Terrain Park. The crowd did not die off early, the lines lasted up until 4 o’clock closing. Cheers to the winter season! Bring on the snow!
As another winter weather system blanketed Ski Country on Monday, we received that happy news that Loveland Ski Area will open for the 2013-2014 season on Thursday, October 17.
Chair 1 will start at 9:00am and will provide skiers and riders with access to one top-to-bottom run. The trails Catwalk, Mambo and Home Run make up this Opening Day run, which is a over a mile long and nearly 1,000 vertical feet.
“Our snowmaking crew has done a tremendous job getting the mountain ready for Opening Day”, said Rob Goodell, director of business operations. “The snow guns are still firing and there is more snow in the forecast, so the first turns of the season are going to be exceptional.”
Loveland Ski Area will be open from 9:00am until 4:00pm on weekdays and 8:30am until 4:30pm on weekends and designated holidays. Early season lift tickets are $49 for adults and $25 for children 6-14.
Loveland Ski Area season passes are now on sale and include three free days at Monarch Mountain, three free days at Durango Mountain Resort (does not apply to mid-week passes), three free days at Crested Butte (does not apply to mid-week passes), and one unguided day at Silverton Mountain.
Unrestricted 4-Paks are also available online for just $129 ($32.25/day) at skiloveland.com through November 24, 2013.
