While snow is a rarity in Ireland, that’s not stopping Colorado Ski Country USA ski areas and resorts from celebrating the Emerald Isle’s mastery of the English language, its ferocious warriors, and its above-average rugby players. So head up to the mountain this Thursday and wear every article of green ski gear you may happen to own. Here’s a rundown of St. Paddy’s Day-themed activities in Ski Country.

Cooper

St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Thursday, which means $30 Thursday at Cooper. All-Day lift tickets are just $30. Guests can take a few runs down “Blarney Stone,” “Clover,” or “Shamrock,” then head into Katie O’Rourke’s Irish Pub for a Reuben & Stout special from 11:00am-5:00pm. At 3:00pm, guests can order up a green brew or Cooper’s own “Kerrigan’s Irish Stout” and enjoy Happy Hour with traditional Celtic tunes from Pete Albrecht and Friends.

And don’t miss the usual Irish Pub Fare favorites at Katie’s, including the Irish Breakfast (two eggs, hash brown, toast, and Irish banger sausage), Loaded Irish Chips, Irish Hot Wings, Irish Beef Stew, Banger and Bacon, and Kerrigan’s Bratwurst. For more information, visit www.skicooper.com.

A self-described “Americana Songbird Outlaw,” Owens recently completed her latest album, American Roots, which is now available online. Owens is a veteran of Nashville clubs and summer festivals. Armed with her Martin guitar and soulful indie voice, Owens music taps into the roots of folks, country, and blues with occasional hints of her Irish heritage. She sings of young sweethearts, vagabonds, whisky-drunk preachers, wild girls ready to fight, French cabaret songbirds.

“I tends to seek out the songs that live way down in our dreams and despairs,” Owens says of her work. “The lyrics are filled with real glamour and grit, they tell of the feelings of regular folks on the edge of a choice between light and dark.”

In addition to live music on the mountain, Sunlight Ski & Bike is bringing end-of-season bargains to the mountain with a slope-side Yard Sale featuring blowout prices on ski and snowboard gear and apparel.
