As summer in ski country comes to a close, there’s another amazing season standing between us and opening day for the 2017-18 Colorado ski season. Rather than wishing the days away and hoping for snow, Colorado’s ski resorts celebrate autumn with the best fall festivals and events in the state.

Enjoy Colorado’s breathtaking fall foliage with events featuring live music, delicious fall food, Colorado craft beers and more. Autumn will be over and ski season will be here in no time, so don’t miss out on your chance to celebrate fall in Colorado ski country.

Arapahoe Basin

Clam Bake and Lobster Boil – Sunday, September 10, 2017
A-Basin’s Fall Tradition: Say goodbye to summer with a casual clam bake and lobster boil at A-Basin. Located in Mountain Goat Plaza, the clam bake features picnic-style seating, live music, generous portions of seafood, an array of sides, and that laid-back vibe we love about summer and the Basin.


Cooper Fall Festival, Community Day & Warren Miller film – Saturday, October 21, 2017
There will be live music, brews and food from 3pm to 6pm. The Warren Miller film starts at 7pm.

Copper Mountain

WitchCraft – September 8-10 and September 15-17
Embrace the changing of the seasons and craft your perfect weekend at Copper’s newest festival, Witchcraft. With a haunted house, hayrides, pumpkin painting, trick or treat, a dog-costume competition, a kids’ costume parade, live music, a brew garden and stein hoisting, you’ll experience the warmth of fall in no time.

Crested Butte

Go Park to Peak to Pint Race – Saturday, September 9, 2017
Fall is the best time of year to run on the many, many trails in Crested Butte – cooler temperatures, spectacular views and leaves blanketing the trails. And what better way to celebrate this awesome time of year than to host a trail run that starts in the town of Crested Butte (Rainbow Park), moves through the Upper Loop trail system, then on to the trails of Crested Butte Mountain Resort…All the way to the peak! From there, racers will end at the base area just in time to enjoy the infamous CB Chamber Chili and Beer Festival, a great tradition with locally made chili, tasty craft beer and live music.

Vinotok Fall Harvest Festival – Saturday, September 23, 2017
Vinotok, a storytelling and fall harvest festival with ancient roots, is a long-standing annual event in Crested Butte. A celebration that takes place on the autumnal equinox, which is the Pagan rite of Thanksgiving, is also known as “Harvest Home” or Mabon. It’s a celebration for the abundance of harvest, a time meant for us to give thanks through song, dance and feasts, which culminates on Saturday night with the trial and burning of the Grump.

Granby Ranch

2nd Annual Oktoberfest – Saturday, September 30, 2017
Join Granby Ranch for the 2nd Annual Oktoberfest, featuring live music, food, a shuttle for transportation within Grand County and family games.


Color Weekend – Saturday, September 23, 2017
Take a scenic chair ride to enjoy the changing of the colors at Powderhorn! This long-standing tradition at Powderhorn gives friends and family a chance to come enjoy the scenery before the snow begins to fall down!


Steamboat Oktoberwest – September 15-16, 2017
Celebrate the season at a Steamboat-style Oktoberfest including Rocky Mountain beer, local food specialties and festivities unique to Steamboat Springs. The full weekend event will include a Friday night beer stroll through historic downtown Steamboat Springs, a Saturday Beer Garden featuring more than 50 Rocky Mountain Brewers, and Saturday Beer & Beef Tasting with live music. During the Oktoberwest event, guests will also be able to enjoy scenic gondola rides and the Coca-Cola Adventure zone featuring mini golf, a ropes course, a rock wall and Slingshot bungee jumping.


Blues and Brews Festival – September 15-17, 2017
Telluride Blues & Brews is a three-day celebration of blues, funk, jam bands, indie, rock, gospel and soul performances —accompanied by some of the best craft breweries in the country, a wide variety of food and craft vendors, children’s activities, late night shows and more.

Festival of Cars and Colors – September 21-24, 2017
The 3rd Annual Telluride Festival of Cars & Colors, September 21-24, 2017 is a world-class celebration for automobile aficionados and lifestyle enthusiasts set in the beautiful town of Telluride, Colorado. Nestled in the canyons of the San Juan Mountains, it’s placed against the backdrop of Telluride’s spectacular palette of September’s autumnal colors.

Winter Park Resort

Whiskey and Wings – September 9, 2017
There is no better way to kick off fall time than with an afternoon of belly warming whiskey and fire breathing wings. This great event features a wide variety of whiskies from your Jack Daniel classics to Colorado locals. Nothing goes better with some whiskey than delicious wings. Eat wings from restaurants all over the valley and make sure to vote for your favorite. It’s for all the bragging rights!
