5th and 6th Grade Passport Programs Launched

It’s that time of year again for the kiddos! Colorado Ski Country USA yesterday launched its signature 5th and 6th Grade Passport programs, and after a successful inaugural year brought back its First Class program. The Passport Programs introduce fifth and sixth grade kids to skiing and snowboarding by giving them free and discounted access to Colorado’s legendary resorts.

The Bittersweet End of a Fantastic Ski Season

Unfortunately, this past Monday was the last day of the 2010-2011 Colorado ski season. Ski season usually lasts a long time but this year it was extra long, having started in late October and going through the 4th of July. The last time lift served skiing was offered in July was way back in 1997 when Clinton was president. Also, in case you were under a rock and did not hear, Colorado received more than 400 inches of sparkling white snow this year making the powder plentiful. (continue reading…)

Fourth of July Festivities Flourish at Colorado Resorts

Make sure you check out the concerts by local artists, patriotic parades, spectacular fireworks displays, and don’t forget that this year there will be lift-served skiing for the first time in 14 years.

Oh, Say Can You Ski – 4th of July Skiing in Colorado

Arapahoe Basin's Lower Mountain

Not since 1997 has there been lift served skiing in Colorado on the 4th of July. Summer skiing in Colorado is nothing new; it’s rare but not new. This summer, skiing has been available at Aspen and Arapahoe Basin on weekends. Aspen is now closed, however Arapahoe Basin has extended summer skiing through the July 4th Holiday.

The Colorado Ski Country Trifecta

Can you believe it’s summer and we’re still skiing in Colorado? It’s probably because we had so much snow in places this past winter, there is still plenty to go around. Or maybe it’s because the air here is dry and that keeps the snow around. Or maybe it’s because the resort that is open is higher in elevation where the snow is preserved longer.

Ski Industry’s Best Honored by Colorado Ski Country USA

Last week, Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) held its 48th Annual Meeting in beautiful Aspen, and to end the day acknowledged the best professionals in the ski industry at its second annual Double Diamond Awards Ceremony.
