Gems & Brews Tour 2013: Sunlight Mountain Resort

by Colorado Snow Sensei on Jan.03, 2014, under Colorado Skiing, Dining and Nightlife, Insider Secrets, Resorts

EEGBTour2013Sunlight 1Sunlight is a small mountain that offers up big fun. There always seems to be fresh snow to be found and non-existent lift lines. The terrain at Sunlight is well suited for the entire family, and while the expert terrain is limited, it offers up an extremely high quality experience. The perfectly spaced Aspens are just spectacular to ski and Charlie’s Glades are probably the most beginner friendly glades in the state. The layout of the mountain also works really well to feed everyone back to the lodge area, creating a very family friendly and social riding experience. You get all this with the best value adult day ticket in Colorado. (continue reading…)

Dan Rabin is a Boulder-based freelance writer and author of the upcoming guidebook, Colorado Breweries (Stackpole Books, 2014). He has visited over 150 breweries across Colorado.

Great beer, like knee-deep powder, is best enjoyed fresh. Following a day on the slopes, few pleasures can match a pint or two of full-flavored craft beer served fresh at a brewery tasting room. Fortunately for beer-loving snow sport enthusiasts, friendly local breweries abound in Colorado Ski Country. However, with a plethora of choices, deciding on the perfect pour can be a daunting task for the uninitiated. Have no fear. The ales and lagers listed below have risen to the top of their class like a frothy head of foam rising in a glass. So when you’re in Colorado Ski Country, go local and enjoy one of these fine fermentations. (continue reading…)
