Aspen Skiing Company has announced that with the start of summer operations, the top of Aspen Mountain will be open for skiing and riding on Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-27. Heavy spring snowfall has left the top of the mountain covered in snow as the traditional summer operating season begins. With a base depth of 33 inches up top, the mountain will open with 16 runs and nearly 90 acres of mostly intermediate terrain, served by the Ajax Express chairlift.
Aspen Skiing Company has announced that Aspen Highlands will reopen for the weekend of April 27-28 in appreciation of skiers and riders for a great season. While Snowmass, Aspen Mountain and Buttermilk are closed for the season, Aspen Highlands will remain open through April 21 as scheduled and then reopen April 27-28. Consistent snowfall over the last week has made for great conditions and enjoyable spring skiing and riding on the mountain.
Today, April 13, 2013, Arapahoe Basin Ski Area will hold its 5th annual Save Our Snow celebration to promote sustainable practices and offer information about how guests can reduce their impact on the environment. All proceeds from this event benefit the High Country Conservation Center in Frisco, Colorado.
Schneetag, the last official Aspen/Snowmass event of the 2012 – 2013 season, will bring plenty of laughs to Snowmass on Sunday, April 14, as both Aspen Mountain and Snowmass will feature closing day fun.
As the winter season comes to a close the tradition of celebrating spring skiing and riding continues with Sunsation at Copper Mountain. The two-day festival includes live music, off-the-wall competitions and plenty of great conditions and sunshine to go around.
Colorado Ski Country USA resorts embraced the latest snowstorm to sweep through the state, welcoming April snow showers that picked up where a snow-laden March left off. The ongoing snowfall enabled several Colorado resorts to re-open recently on select weekends after their official closing dates, and the past couple of days have left further powder deposits for guests to enjoy.
Buttermilk closing day will be BAD – in the best sense of the word – as Bacon Appreciation Day is back for the third year in a row. The 3rd Annual Bacon Appreciation Day, featuring bacon snacks and samples all day long, including bacon waffles, bacon samples, sundaes with bacon sprinkles and a bacon and beer happy hour, will take place on closing day, Sunday, April 7. The day culminates with a rail jam at the base, then the Bacon Bartender’s Brawl, with music from DJ Ronnie.
